DESIGNER
Since childhood, I have been intrigued by the world of fashion, and this passion has continued to grow over time. My name is Ramila Nemkul, and I am an entrepreneur and fashion designer. I earned a Bachelor's degree in International Business from Central University Finland in 2011, followed by a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship from Aalto University in Finland in 2015. Additionally, I received a Master's degree in Fashion Design from AAFT in India in 2018.
BRAND
KASA is a fashion brand based in Kathmandu that is highly regarded for its environmentally conscious approach to the fashion industry. The brand has organized two major sustainable fashion events in the Mount Everest region, making it a preferred choice among customers. KASA has been recognized by the Guinness World Records brand marketing case study and is listed among the 160 conglomerates in the world. In addition, KASA arranged the first international fashion show in Nepal at the world heritage site in Patan Durbar Museum on August 30th, 2019. The brand also conducted the Kathmandu Fashion Gala at a heritage site in Baber Mahal on November 26th, 2022.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Recognizing the fashion industry's significant contribution to pollution, KASA introduced its sustainable fashion line. On January 26th, 2020, KASA launched this line at Kala Patthar, located near the Mt. Everest base camp. The designer and CEO of KASA received a certificate from the Guinness World Records for organizing the highest fashion show on land, a feat that was repeated in September 2021.
VISION AND MISSION
The fashion industry is expanding rapidly, and people are increasingly interested in purchasing and wearing new clothing designs. However, the use of non-biodegradable fabrics and waste generated by non-degradable clothing contributes significantly to pollution. KASA aims to raise awareness about eco-friendly fabrics like felt and pashmina, which are biodegradable and sustainable, and can be used to produce clothing in an environmentally conscious manner. This fall/winter season of 2023/24, modern and fashionable clothing made from sustainable fabrics is the way forward.

What inspired you to become a fashion designer?
Fashion became part of the creative process from an early age. As a child, Ramila Nemkul enjoyed dressing her dolls and creating outfits for friends and family. Her experience at Kavya Boutique and later studies in Italy and India further developed her interest in fashion design.
How would you describe your design style?
The designs focus on elegant, comfortable, and practical formal wear and business casual clothing. The collections combine current fashion trends with wearable designs, with locally produced fabrics from Nepal also used in the garments.
What can people expect from your collection?
The collection focuses on polished and wearable formal and business casual pieces designed for everyday life. The designs place importance on comfort, quality, and contemporary styling while maintaining a sophisticated look.
What inspired the name KASA?
The name comes from the Italian word “Casa,” meaning house or dwelling. The first letter was changed to “K,” which is considered a lucky letter, creating the name KASA. The idea also reflects a sense of comfort and being at ease.
Why is comfort important in your approach to formal wear?
Comfort is considered an essential part of well designed clothing. The goal is to create formal and business casual pieces that not only look polished but also allow the wearer to feel comfortable and confident throughout the day.
