Matteo Buttiglieri is an Italian fashion designer inspired by the intersection of street culture,
architecture, sportswear, and hip-hop culture. Growing up in Sicily shaped his perspective on
identity, ambition, and self-expression, which remain central themes in his work, while his
vision is to build a globally recognized brand with a distinctive visual language and
meaningful identity. His creative process combines technical construction, bold silhouettes,
and experimental textile manipulation, with each collection developed around a strong
concept that reflects personal growth and cultural relevance. He collaborated with Domenico
Orefice as a designer and pattern maker on Habitat, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection
presented during Milan Fashion Week.

What inspired your journey into fashion design and the creation of your brand?
Born and raised on the outskirts of Gela, in Sicily, the designer has been exposed since he was a child to the aesthetics of street culture, including street art, graffiti and the urban landscape of the suburbs. Growing up, he developed a strong interest in rap, recognising its value as an identity language capable of transforming the suburban experience into status, code and cultural representation. From this passion he approached musical production as the first means of personal expression, and then naturally evolved towards fashion design as a more concrete and structured form of communication.
How would you describe your brand's identity or design philosophy?
I think my identity or my philosophy is to want to create an imaginary, a lifestyle that goes beyond the clothes themselves. To be recognised, to be 'annoying' and out of place.
Are there any signature pieces, materials, techniques, or craftsmanship you would like to highlight?
The shapes, the silhouettes, the choice of technical materials and particular textures, as well as the research and development of the patterns, therefore of the volumes. An important one will also be the shoes, which I designed and developed, in particular the 3D sneakers developed together with Servati, a leading company in Italy.
Does the collection have a cultural, personal, or social significance?
On a personal level it metaphorically represents the 'foundation' of my future, I am ambitious and I would like this to be only my official starting point. As far as culturally and socially are concerned, I think aesthetics are very strong, I think it can be a meeting point between many guys who come from the suburbs, give a message of hope, that is, that what comes from the margin is often the reference of what the main stream proposes. And that in fact it is precisely in the suburbs that the real beautiful things are found.
What emotions or experience do you hope audiences take away from the collection?
I would like to give a sense of disturbance, it must be out of the box, arouse something good or bad that it is. Both musically and visually I would like to be the black sheep of the village, a world brought out of the context in which it is located. I would like to be recognised as a voice outside the chorus and I hope that this can make me appreciated by buyers, people, influencers etc.
