INSPIRATION FOR THIS SEASON’S COLLECTION
This season is MIKAGE SHIN’s first debut collection as a business after her graduation from Parsons School of Design. It is composed by her best archives and several best collections from 2017 to 2019.
For instance, one main collection is SKIN AND WARMTH.
This aesthetic philosophy was suggested by Gio Ponti, an Italian great architect and furniture designer. Even though architectures are obviously inorganic things, he always attempted to make elaborate decoration on their surface as if they were living, and he also made structural uniqueness on them. It means “Skin & Warmth”. Through MORE PLAYFUL DESIGNS WITH PASSION AND PULSE, He gave birth to them.
The designer, Mikage Shin, was so inspired by this aesthetic. She interpreted his aesthetic philosophy into her clothes, and she examined interesting designs by two approaches: surface aesthetics and structural interesting. Mikage used neutral colors as “skin” , and developed multi layers for making structure to recall emotion, “warmth”. Through this collection, Mikage wanted to suggest the true beauty for humans. Mikage challenged drawing both Visible Beauty and Invisible Beauty, Tangible and Intangible Beauty. Mikage believes that true beautiful fashion can work on not only the surface, but also reflect a human’s inside, intelligence and attitude gracefully.
