What inspired you to become a fashion designer?
I grew up in a family connected to fashion—my father was a clothing merchant, and my mother was one of China's first fashion models to work abroad. After retiring from professional martial arts and working as a model, I founded JUMPER ZHANG to combine my passion for fashion with my own creative vision.
How would you describe your design style?
My designs pursue beauty, elegance, and comfort through refined tailoring and natural fabrics. I blend Eastern aesthetics with French romantic influences while creating timeless luxury fashion with meticulous craftsmanship.
What can people expect from your latest collection?
Beyond the Archive Light focuses on couture craftsmanship and textile development. The collection features hand beading, featherwork, sculptural floral details, and custom-made fabrics, balancing softness with structure and tradition with contemporary elegance.
How has Tai Chi influenced your design philosophy?
Tai Chi has taught me the importance of harmony, balance, and the relationship between strength and softness. Those principles continue to influence my silhouettes, movement, and overall design philosophy.
Why did you choose the theme "Circle" for this season?
The circle symbolizes harmony, continuity, and the balance found in Chinese philosophy. Inspired by Tai Chi and the I Ching, I wanted this collection to celebrate the enduring beauty of nature, movement, and cultural heritage.
