Terra2k is a design studio located in Vancouver with a focus on sustainability.

Terra2k uses fashion and product design as a vehicle for uncovering consciousness for

sustainability. Terra2k questions what transformations it would take on an individual and

collective level to manifest a sustainable world.

Each garment created by Terra2k is made from “up-cycled”, “deadstock”, or saved from waste

materials.

Following the theme of giving old garments new life by “up-cycling”, or creating new garments

from “deadstock”, Terra2k’s collection Death & Rebirth follows the story of a butterfly

undergoing metamorphosis. A symbol for physical and spiritual transformation.

What inspired the creation of Terra2K?

Terra2K was established in 2020 as an experimental clothing line exploring what sustainability means on both individual and systemic levels. Fashion and design are used as tools to communicate ideas about creating a more sustainable world.

How would you describe your design style?

The brand takes an experimental, sustainability focused approach to streetwear. Garments are created from upcycled pieces, vintage clothing, deadstock textiles, and materials saved from waste, allowing available materials to influence each design.

What can people expect from your “Death & Rebirth” collection?

The FW23 collection explores sustainability through fashion, using discarded and existing materials to communicate ideas of transformation and renewal. Its designs challenge the conventional linear model of fashion production and waste.

What sustainable techniques are used throughout “Death & Rebirth”?

The collection incorporates visible mending, waxed garments, upcycling, circular systems, and deadstock fabrics. These different practices demonstrate how existing materials can be transformed rather than discarded.

How do waste materials influence the design of the collection?

The available waste materials help determine the collection’s aesthetics rather than following a fixed material selection. This creative restriction leads to unexpected silhouettes, styling, and storytelling shaped by what can be recovered and reused.
