Konoma Clothing Studio "Living” VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK FALL/WINTER 2023
In 2023/4, Konoma Clothing studio in Kyoto, Japan will launch its collection at Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) for the fall/Winter 2023 season, creating a whirlwind in Vancouver.
Konoma Clothing studio has been based in Kyoto since 2019.
All the products of Konoma Clothing Studio are produced by Shunsuke Konoma.

It is also the theme of the collection and the philosophy of Konoma Clothing Studio.
Be sincere.Against the person who wears that clothes.Against materials, tools and shapes.Against living itself.
The materials, details, and sizes are edited, but everything is made by someone who has been commissioned, and there is an inevitability and a certain life there.

What inspired you to become a fashion designer?
A background in fashion education and experience working in the apparel industry led to the creation of Konoma Clothing Studio. After completing graduate studies in fashion design, Shunsuke Konoma worked for an apparel company before establishing the brand in 2019.
How would you describe your design style?
The designs focus on wearable clothing with a strong emphasis on fabric, construction, and silhouette. At Vancouver Fashion Week, the collection featured crisp black and white cotton garments, including structured outerwear and contrasting sheer elements.
What can people expect from your collection?
The collection Living explores the philosophy of Konoma Clothing Studio through wearable garments. The FW23 presentation featured a monochromatic approach with black and white cotton pieces, combining structured outerwear with lighter, sheer elements.
What does “Living” mean in your design philosophy?
Living represents the philosophy of the studio and connects the clothing with the idea of everyday life. The collection presents wearable pieces rather than clothing designed only for visual impact.
Why is hands on craftsmanship important to your work?
Every product is made by Shunsuke Konoma himself. This hands on approach allows the design and production of each garment to remain closely connected throughout the making process.
