The brand is named after the designer - Shelley Klassen – and has been her eponymous label for the last 16 years. Shelley Klassen has sold her designs out of her award winning Vancouver boutique, since 2007 as well as select boutiques across Canada and USA. All garments are designed and manufactured in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Fantastically feminine in design, the Shelley Klassen label celebrates being a woman. Embracing vibrancy in all aspects with color, print and texture, each piece is uniquely designed to its calling. The result is an unapologetic celebration of femininity. It is unique designer clothing for women who are tired of mainstream fast fashion and value quality, sustainability and desire a fabulous functional wardrobe. It is elevated, wearable fashion. What inspires your approach to fashion design?
I find inspiration in fabric and the creative process of transforming it into clothing. Playing with fabric is my “happy place,” allowing the material itself to guide the direction of each design.
How would you describe your design style?
My designs are feminine, colourful, and highly wearable, with a strong focus on comfort and functionality. Vibrant colours, prints, textures, and versatile silhouettes create clothing designed to celebrate women while accommodating different body types.
What can people expect from your Resort 2023 Collection?
The collection captures the feeling of a dream resort vacation, with pieces designed for everything from relaxing poolside to dinners and beach walks. Feminine silhouettes, rich textures, and soothing colours create an elevated yet comfortable wardrobe.
What materials bring the relaxed resort feeling to the collection?
I combine rich crochet textures with breezy crepes and pleated chiffon. These materials create lightweight, comfortable pieces suited to summer and holiday settings while maintaining my feminine and elevated aesthetic.
How does colour help capture the mood of the Resort 2023 Collection?
Colour is central to my creative process. Tranquil blue, Caribbean coral, lavender, papaya, and berry bring a vibrant vacation mood to the collection while reflecting my philosophy of living life in full colour.
