pcycl is an independent label devoted to effortless, wearable

gender neutral clothes. It is defined by a workflow of moving slowly,

resetting the creative process, and imagining deeply.

The aim is always to bring awareness to sustainability, circularity,

biodiversity, minimizing waste and optimizing wear usage. Each

collection represents a renewed desire to design mindfully, and

create consciously. By also giving new life to forgotten resources

like dead stock fabric, garments and materials. pcycl explores new

ways to challenge and please the eye in both volume and

proportion. Each garment is created with attention to detail – never

rushed, and proudly finished by hand.

Since COVID-19 pandemic, pcycl continues to evolve into what it

now calls pcycl 2.0. The brand continues to keep its creative

process open, whether it is an invitation to collaborations, new

ways to champion sustainability and ethical practices, or to

constructively contribute to conversations on how everyone can

build a more meaningful connection to clothes.

What inspired you to become a fashion designer?

Joe Li studied fashion at Central Saint Martins and developed an approach centered on reinterpreting classic fashion through his own perspective. His work with PCYCL later brought together his interests in design, comfort, and responsible fashion.

How would you describe your design style?

The designs combine comfort with a deconstructive and gender fluid approach, drawing inspiration from fashion, architecture, technology, and music. Volume and proportion are explored while keeping sustainability central to the creative process.

What can people expect from your Vancouver Fashion Week collection?

The collection continues PCYCL’s focus on mindful design, sustainability, and circularity. Draping, sophisticated colour, volume, and proportion shape the visual direction while forgotten materials are given new purpose.

How are forgotten materials given new life in your designs?

Deadstock fabrics, existing garments, and other overlooked materials are reworked rather than discarded. This process allows the brand to experiment with new volumes and proportions while reducing waste and extending material use.

What materials support PCYCL’s approach to responsible fashion?

The brand has worked with organic cotton, recycled polyester, wool, and PFC free water repellent fabrics. Recycled PET zippers and waste materials from larger companies also support its focus on more responsible production.
