I learned about fashion because I grew up in an environment where there was always a loom in the house due to the influence of textiles, which was a hobby of my mother.
After graduating from Tokyo Mode Gakuen fashion department, fashion technology department night class, I worked at a sewing factory and an apparel company, etc., and in
February 2013, I started qrosp Co., Ltd.
Kimono remake brand k【紬-tsumugi-】was started in 2020.
The brand concept is 【晴れ(ハレ)の服を 褻(ケ)の日に (Hare no fuku wo ke no
hi ni)】.
We remake kimonos that can only be worn on special occasions in Japan into clothes that can be worn on a daily life. Rather than making a formal dress from a kimono, we make casual clothes that anyone can buy, I aim to create products that allow many people to feel the splendor of Kimono.

What inspired the creation of Tsumugi?
The brand’s director grew up close to textiles through her mother, who is a weaving artist. This connection contributed to Tsumugi’s focus on giving kimono new possibilities through contemporary clothing.
How would you describe your design style?
Tsumugi transforms vintage kimono into contemporary, approachable clothing while preserving the character of the original textiles. The brand aims to make kimono remake fashion easier to incorporate into everyday life.
What can people expect from your Vancouver Fashion Week collection?
We presented Tsumugi as it normally is rather than creating special showpieces exclusively for the runway. Garments were resized for international models while maintaining the brand’s approach to making kimono remake fashion part of everyday life.
Why is bringing kimono into everyday life important to Tsumugi?
The brand aims to make kimono and kimono remake fashion feel more familiar and accessible. Its approach brings textiles traditionally associated with special occasions into clothing that can become part of everyday wardrobes.
Why did you choose Vancouver Fashion Week to introduce Tsumugi internationally?
We wanted to develop opportunities to sell overseas and introduce Tsumugi to a wider international audience. Participating in VFW was also a way to share the brand’s progress with customers who had supported us since its early days.
