Leidy Laura Rendón Cardona is a Colombian fashion designer and weightlifting athlete, a combination that has given her a unique perspective on the human body, movement, and clothing. Her design philosophy is based on the idea that human beings grow through spiral movements and processes of fractal transformation, inspiring garments that accompany these physical and mental journeys. Her work moves naturally between commercial and experimental design: she creatively directs her brand, LADY LAURA CLOTHING, while exploring experimental patternmaking as her field of research.

In 2025, she was selected for Colegiatura’s Transmission Balenciaga project, where her Fractal outfit was published by the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum. From there, her work evolved into the Áurea collection, presented at Colombiamoda 2025, followed by her first commercial brand collection, CORPÓREA, presented at Colombiamoda 2026. What she will present at Vancouver Fashion Week 2026 is a fusion of both: the Fibonacci spiral dressing the body through complexity and experimentation, combined with new techniques emerging from her research into body biomechanics and translated into a more commercial language. A collection that stands by one conviction: movement is the greatest trend.

PREVIOUS  COLLECTIONS

What inspired Leidy Laura Rendón’s journey into fashion design?

Leidy Laura Rendón’s experience as both a fashion designer and a weightlifting athlete has shaped her perspective on the human body, movement, and clothing. Her work explores how garments can respond to physical movement and processes of transformation.

How would you describe her design style or philosophy?

Her design philosophy explores the idea that human beings grow through movement and processes of transformation. Her practice moves between commercial and experimental fashion, with experimental patternmaking playing an important role in her research.

What can people expect from her collection?

The collection brings together the Fibonacci spiral, body movement, and experimental construction. It combines ideas developed through her earlier experimental work with new techniques emerging from her research into body biomechanics, translated into a more commercial design language.

How does the Fibonacci spiral influence her designs?

The Fibonacci spiral, derived from the golden rectangle, provides a geometric foundation for her work. In one of her experimental designs, the spiral develops into a three-dimensional, shell-like structure that moves around the body, creating a continuous sense of movement and dimensionality.

What is the relationship between order and chaos in her work?

Leidy Laura Rendón explores the contrast between mathematical structure and creative freedom. Her work with the Fibonacci spiral combines geometric precision with the experimental “Nyokittos” technique, representing a duality between order and chaos, precision and passion. Her Áurea collection similarly explores the relationship between creative chaos and structural perfection.
