From fixing hand-me-down clothes to becoming a successful Fashion Designer, Genette Mujar, our founder's journey is a testament to perseverance and hard work.

Despite facing numerous obstacles, including financial struggles and being a single mother, Genette pursued her dream of becoming a designer. After enrolling in Fashion Design school in her 50s and graduating with flying colours, she became an official Fashion Designer for a local clothing company in Canada.

Genette’s designs have been featured in iconic magazines and she continues to collaborate with photographers, makeup artists, and models. She is an inspiration to single moms and immigrants everywhere to follow their passions and never give up on their dreams.

What inspired you to become a fashion designer?

Fashion has been my passion since I was young. I used to restyle hand me down and outdated clothes and learned to sew on my mother’s manual sewing machine. This early interest eventually led me to pursue fashion design in Vancouver at the age of 50.

How would you describe your design style?

My style focuses on modern Filipiniana, combining classic silhouettes with elegant details and contemporary elements. I create dresses and gowns ranging from formal styles to more edgy Filipiniana designs.

What can people expect from your collection?

You can expect colourful details, classic silhouettes, and eye-catching materials that give the collection a vibrant and distinctive character.

How did your experience as a caregiver influence your journey into fashion design?

Working as a caregiver in Canada allowed me to support my family, but I never gave up my passion for fashion. At 50, I decided to study fashion design while continuing to work, eventually leaving caregiving to pursue fashion professionally.

Why is modern Filipiniana important to your work?

Modern Filipiniana is one of my favourite styles to create. Through my designs, I want to show the beauty of Filipiniana while presenting it in contemporary forms that can be appreciated in Canada and internationally.
