With an ethereal feel, rich metals and deep colors - this collection brings impactful silhouettes through the use of simple materials -, with a big emphasis on the ‘drama’ factor.”

What inspired you to create EMJOTA Studio?
I created EMJOTA Studio from my passion for fashion and corsetry, with a desire to challenge fast fashion and create carefully made garments. The brand began in 2021 with a focus on soft corsets and upcycled denim.
How would you describe your design style?
My style combines Victorian and romantic influences with elements of rural and vintage fashion. I work with corsets, lace, embroidery, leather, and different fabrics to create dramatic and feminine designs.
What can people expect from your collection?
You can expect a gothic and romantic collection featuring rich metals, deep colours, and dramatic details. Each garment is meticulously handmade in Portugal, reflecting EMJOTA Studio’s focus on distinctive craftsmanship.
Why are corsets central to EMJOTA Studio?
Corsets are central to the brand because they allow me to explore historical silhouettes while creating contemporary pieces. I work with both soft and fully boned corsets, using different levels of structure to shape and support the body.
How does EMJOTA Studio approach sustainability?
Sustainability is part of the brand’s approach through the use of upcycled materials and made to order production. The studio originally focused on upcycled denim and now creates pieces individually according to each customer’s measurements rather than mass producing garments.
