When you’re going away for any amount of time, you always need to be careful not to overpack. I, myself, have fallen into the overpacking wormhole and regretted it the moment I get to my destination and realize that I am not going to wear half the things I packed.

But we can all learn to avoid this disaster! So, here’s a few tips on how to make sure your bag stays light enough for you to carry comfortably.

First of all you need a good bag, one that’s big enough to carry your essentials in, but also small enough for you to carry, pack in your car, or put into an overhead compartment.

Something like the City Plume Duffle Bag from Lipault is the perfect size for a much needed vacation.

The inside is roomy enough for everything that you need and it has big interior pockets that you can keep things like chargers and wires, so they won’t get caught up in anything else.

It also has pockets on the side and front with a handy detachable shoulder strap, that allows for versatile carrying.

One piece of advice is to check the weather before you leave because you won’t have a good time if you pack only shorts, skirts, or dresses when it ends up raining. At least if you know what the weather might be, then you can be more prepared.

If you’re going to be a way for a few days, or even a week, then you should try to plan your outfits for each day, while trying to be versatile with the pieces that you pack.

Try and make sure that most of the clothes that you pack can be worn together in different ways, but if you’re still not sure, then you can always choose items that are easily layerable.

Footwear-wise, I usually try to have two or three pairs of shoes. One pair of everyday shoes, some fancier evening shoes (if I know I’m going out to a nice restaurant that night), and a pair of close-toed shoes if my everyday shoes are sandals.

And last, but not least, don’t go overboard with the makeup! Take whatever makeup that you’d wear on an average day. Try to have enough items for a daytime look that you can wear every day, and then maybe one ‘going out’ look if you are planning to have a night out.

If you don’t want to wear the same makeup look every day, then you can always take a few different lip colours to change it up. They don’t take up much extra room, than if you wanted to bring more than one eyeshadow palette.

A few other suggestions are the Lady Plume Bowling Bag or the Lady Plume Tote Bag.

What you pack depends on what you’re doing and where you’re going, so plan ahead and take what you need! Have a great vacation and don’t forget to check out the Lipault store at MaCarthur-Glenn Designer Outlet Mall!
