How to Stay Organized

It’s only about half-way through summer, but September is quickly approaching.  Most of us are probably not looking forward to going back to school or work, especially post-vacation.

Getting back to the grind after some time off can be hard and there’s a chance you may feel disorganized.

Here are a few tips and tricks on how to stay organized!

1. Make Your Bed

This doesn’t seem like much, but making your bed can your room look and feel more organized. And if everything is more organized, then there’s less of a chance you’ll be frantically searching for that one pen that you somehow lost in your messy sheets.

2. Make a Schedule

Whether you are writing something down in a physical agenda, or a laptop, or tablet, it’s a great idea to keep a schedule for yourself. This way you’ll have everything in front of you and in order, so you can make sure you’re spending enough time on the things that need to be completed first.

3. Write Down a To-Do List

A to-do list is quite helpful on the day-to-day front. You write down the things you need to get done today, so you focus on those tasks and won’t end up procrastinating by working on something that is not as urgent, or important. I love having a pretty notebook and using colourful pens make it look less dull.

4. Put Belongings Away ASAP

The more of a mess you have around you, the more unorganized you may feel. Don’t get caught up in this cycle! Put away everything you don’t need, so you can have a clean and organized space to focus on the tasks that need to be finished.

5. Devote 10-15 Minutes to Organizing

If you think about it, ten minutes in 24 hours of your day isn’t really wasting much time. Figure out what you need to do and what you’ll need to finish it. Ten, maybe 15 minutes of making sure everything is organized will make a huge improvement to your daily routine. Spend a bit of time cleaning your desk, organizing your closet or putting away laundry and get the little things out of the way so you have more time for the bigger projects you have.

Incorporating a few of these practical solutions to your everyday life will improve your productivity and will result in more free time to do the things you enjoy.
