Q: Have you ever worked in retail? How has/did that affect your views on the fashion industry?
A: I grew up working in my parents’ local ski business so from a young age I was emerged in the right environment. Dressing people in ski gear is far from the fashion runway show but it gave me insight into how people and clothing have such an intimate relationship. I am also working at online women’s’ retailer “birdsnest” based in rural Australia. I get to see up close how clothing can inspire confidence in women and be quite an emotional process. I want my clothing to empower women to feel confident and for them to feel inspired and cared for when they are wearing my clothing. The right outfit and pair of shoes is the perfect start to conquer your dreams.
Q: What are you most excited about this season?
A: I’m not sure exactly what this question is asking but I will answer in 2 parts. I am most excited to see the use of prints, and mixing fabrications this season. I am also excited to see how accessories have a bit of a retro influence. I am most excited to be working alongside other emerging designers and to hear their stories and aspirations. I love being in a creative environment and it doesn’t get much better than fashion week!
Q: What is something that you do every day? (for example; morning run, check your emails etc.)
A: 3 things I am grateful for each morning and 3 lessons I learned each day. I use a diary every day as a goal setting bible. I can’t go to sleep without reflecting on the day and find this tool helps with mindfulness as well as achieving goals.
SETSETSET is a fun and quirky brand by South Korean Designer, and CEO, Yoonkyung Jang. It launched it’s first collection during the A/W season of 2016.
Q: What inspires your designs?
A: We inspired by Korean culture and make a story with a new theme every seasons. Our SS18 theme is ‘Samulnori: Korean traditional percussion quartet.’ ‘Samulnori’ is played by 4 percussion instruments representing Korean traditional music. We expresses the instruments and the costumes in SETSETSET.
Q: Who is your target audience?
A: Girls who love unique and kitsch styles are our fans. Originally, the colors of Korea is so intense. But we put the pastel colors and we created our clothes lovely.
Q: What is your favourite place you’ve visited?
A: I love Gyeongju. There are a lot of cultural relics. They are abiding keep those. If you go there, you can feel my feelings. There aura is very nice. Someday, I would like to express the city Gyeongju in SETSETSET.
