Dark elegance: nail colour trends for Fall/Winter 17

The leaves have fallen from the trees, the nights are drawing in, and we’re wrapping up in layers to keep warm. It’s officially time to switch up your polish palette to nail the season’s new look.

We look to the industry’s best colour designers, taking creative inspiration from their newest released nail lacquers. Let see what’s happening across the spectrum…

  • 1) Vert no. 31 by Chanel

First up Vert no. 31 by Chanel, a shade in a beautiful dark green with a bluish tinge. Chanel global colour designer Lucia Pica was inspired by a road trip up the California coast from Los Angeles to Big Sur and brought an eclectic mix of colour to the latest nail collection.

  • 2) Social Lights by Essie

This pale number from Essie’s new ‘Ring in the bling’ collection is perfect for the snowy season. The shimmer slate gray glistening with amber warmth really catches the light.

  • 3) Cabernet with Bae by Sally Hansen

This deep dark burgundy tone in the Miracle Gel formula boasts a high shine and rich colour. We love to wear a darker pigment at this time of year.

  • 4) Little Red Corvette by Deborah Lipmann

This limited edition Gel Lab Pro product offers full coverage in a hot red crème. Part of the (PRODUCT)RED fundraising project, and one of the newest releases from the Lipmann collection, this creates a bolder look for the season.

  • 5) Coalmates by OPI

This metallic charcoal nail polish offers a lot of depth. A dark gray with blue tone enhanced by a scattered holographic shimmer. This is all shimmer no glitter, for a more subtle style.

It appears smoky shades, metallics, and some darker berry hues are taking centre stage, creating a darker elegance this season.

*Top Tip

Remember to use a base coat and take care of your nails in the winter months. Nails can become brittle and tend to break and chip more in the colder weather. Use hand lotion to moisturize.
