Vancouver Fashion Week collaborates with We Are Canadians Too! highlighting local first generation fashion designers.
Vancouver Fashion Week is proud to collaborate with the We Are Canadians Too! event this weekend, in partnership with the Asian- Canadian Special Events Association. To continue the celebrations of Canada’s 150th anniversary, VFW will be exhibiting 6 first-generation Canadian fashion designers, celebrating the multiculturalism of our country. These young designers come from a vast variety of backgrounds and now call Canada home, and here at VFW we are looking to honour this diversity with our showcase Cultural Fabrics.
The Cultural Fabrics exhibition will feature work from designers KING & REIGN, RABIA DASTGIR, A.SEASON, ALEX S YU, TETYANA GOLOTA. and KIRSTEN LEY. We will be showcasing a specially curated line-up of their designs, looking at pieces that fuse elements from their own heritage and Canadian design together. We will exhibit 3 looks from each designer alongside interesting bios so you can discover more about their diverse backgrounds and see how this has influenced their designs.
To all you culture vultures out there make sure you get yourselves to Vancouver Art Gallery this Saturday the 25th November. Running for one day only we seriously recommend taking up this opportunity to see a really interesting curation of work from local multicultural designers.
We Are Canadians, Too! is designed to show the love and share perspectives of being Canadians, from the first generation.
The Cultural Fabrics exhibition will run from 11am-7pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza, 750 Hornby St, this Saturday. Admission is free and there will be food, games and exciting events taking place at the gallery space with an evening performance at the Vancouver Playhouse.
