Street Style Trends 2017

This season, it seems a lot of the latest fashion trends are making a comeback, either from the 70’s with the wide leg pant, or the 90’s with the yellow tinted sunglasses worn by Britney Spears and Destiny’s Child.  It’s all about bringing the old and revamping it with new accessories, bolder prints and more about bringing out the uniqueness and style of each.

1. Oversized Striped Top

Pair with a mini straw bag or a solid color one for a night out, and you’ve got a complete look.

6. Tinted Sunnies

Last 2016 season, it was the oversized sunglasses setting the trend, perhaps some fine detailing as well, dark lenses or the irregular shape sunnies.  This year, it’s more about the yellow tinted lenses that are creating all the hype.  Celebrities such as Gigi Hadid,Kylie Jenner and of course Bella Hadid have been spotted wearing the latest trend.  Basically transparent, and not really blocking out any sun, they can be worn late into night, as they won’t be blocking out your vision.  What’s great about these, is they can be worn with an all black outfit, as a colour accessory, or combined with a colourful and full of attitude outfit.

7. Straw Purses

These are not the straw purses or beach bags you know of, we’re talking about the round, rectangle or oval little purses, perfect for this summer.  To be worn with a pair of espadrilles, jeans, ripped or not, and your favourite comfy tee.  This Bali style trend is walking its way down the runway, and has been part of the Dolce & Gabbana and Charlotte Olympia fashion shows.  A perfect little purse to remind us of summer picnics in the park and long beach days spent at the beach.

8. Embroidered Denim Mini Skirt

Denim on denim, or embroidered denim, denim is still a big part of fashion these days.  Back come the mini skirts, a trend from the early 2000’s, only this time revamped with more intricate details and fine stitch work.  More for the street style trendsetter, denim skirts are best paired with either a simple tee or striped off the shoulder cotton blouse, for a perfect out of the town look.

Staying trendy and adding new pieces to your wardrobe can be overwhelming sometimes.  Choosing from a few of these pieces will keep you in the loop, and you can always combine with your own style by adding a few of your staple pieces.

How to Stay Organized

It’s only about half-way through summer, but September is quickly approaching.  Most of us are probably not looking forward to going back to school or work, especially post-vacation.

Getting back to the grind after some time off can be hard and there’s a chance you may feel disorganized.

Here are a few tips and tricks on how to stay organized!

1. Make Your Bed

This doesn’t seem like much, but making your bed can your room look and feel more organized. And if everything is more organized, then there’s less of a chance you’ll be frantically searching for that one pen that you somehow lost in your messy sheets.

2. Make a Schedule

Whether you are writing something down in a physical agenda, or a laptop, or tablet, it’s a great idea to keep a schedule for yourself. This way you’ll have everything in front of you and in order, so you can make sure you’re spending enough time on the things that need to be completed first.

3. Write Down a To-Do List

A to-do list is quite helpful on the day-to-day front. You write down the things you need to get done today, so you focus on those tasks and won’t end up procrastinating by working on something that is not as urgent, or important. I love having a pretty notebook and using colourful pens make it look less dull.

4. Put Belongings Away ASAP

The more of a mess you have around you, the more unorganized you may feel. Don’t get caught up in this cycle! Put away everything you don’t need, so you can have a clean and organized space to focus on the tasks that need to be finished.

5. Devote 10-15 Minutes to Organizing

If you think about it, ten minutes in 24 hours of your day isn’t really wasting much time. Figure out what you need to do and what you’ll need to finish it. Ten, maybe 15 minutes of making sure everything is organized will make a huge improvement to your daily routine. Spend a bit of time cleaning your desk, organizing your closet or putting away laundry and get the little things out of the way so you have more time for the bigger projects you have.

Incorporating a few of these practical solutions to your everyday life will improve your productivity and will result in more free time to do the things you enjoy.
