JOAN – the first collection by Nynne Kunde
Nynne’s first collection is centered around the meaning and use of power dressing for the modern woman in today’s society with Joan Crawford, one of the leading ladies of the 1940s, as a great inspiration. A cornerstone of the collection is modern and functional materials such as nylon, cotton poplin, leather, and digitalized prints with a graphic colour palette which supports the collection’s statement of modern power glam. Accessory details such as jewellery and bags have been designed for the collection as well with a sculptural and industrial element in mind.
Born in the vibrant city of Copenhagen, Nynne Kunde, 25, grew up with a natural interest and passion for the design and art world. She pursued her studies in Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni London in 2014 and graduated in Fashion Design Womenswear in 2018.
Her graduate and first collection JOAN AW19 is centered around women. “I grew up in a society where women have the possibility to achieve what they want at their workplace but they still need to maintain the dress code dominant back in the 80s. In my graduate collection, I questioned the term ‘power dressing’ and I wanted to change the definition of power in women’s clothing in the 21st century”.
Nynne was announced as ‘Womenswear Designer of the Year’ at the gradate show in 2018 from Istituto Marangoni London. JOAN – the first collection by Nynne Kunde
